Free Swelling Index

Free Swelling Index

The Free Swelling Index (FSI) measurement of coal will provide coking value of the coal being tested. Coal showing a high FSI is more likely to be useful as a coking coal which is key ingredient in the production of steel. A low FSI coal will typically be used as a steam coal for power generation.
